Voice Lessons for Kids & Teens in Jacksonville, FL

Young voices need a teacher who builds healthy habits first and confidence right alongside them. Vicki Lee has taught singers in Jacksonville since 2004, and lessons can take a young singer from a first school solo all the way to a first recording at Studio 105.

The approach

Singing lessons built around a young singer

Most kids who love to sing are already doing it — in the car, in their room, in the school chorus. What they usually don't have is someone showing them how to do it without pushing their voice too hard, and how to stand up and deliver when it actually counts.

That's where weekly lessons with Vicki come in. Every student starts with a short, friendly assessment so she can hear where their voice is right now and what they want out of lessons. From there she builds a plan around the student's age, voice and goals — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

For younger kids, lessons focus on pitch, rhythm, breathing and having fun with songs they actually like. For teens, the work goes deeper: range, tone, mixing chest and head voice, harmony, and the performance skills that matter for chorus, auditions and talent shows.

What parents usually ask about first

  • Will lessons strain my child's voice? Healthy technique is the starting point of every lesson, for exactly that reason.
  • Can they sing the music they love? Yes — pop, country, musical theatre, worship and more are all fair game.
  • Will it help with school chorus? Breath support, pitch and reading a part carry straight into ensemble singing.

“I don't teach a curriculum. I teach the voice that walks in the door.”

— Vicki Lee, vocal coach since 2004
What you'll work on

What young singers work on

Every plan is different, but these are the building blocks most kids and teens move through.

Breathing and support

Learning to breathe low and steady so phrases last and the voice doesn't tire out halfway through a song.

Pitch and ear training

Matching pitch, hearing harmony and staying in tune — the foundation for chorus, solos and everything after.

Healthy range building

Gradually and safely stretching range, including finding the "mix" teens need as their voices change.

Stage confidence

Practicing the whole performance — walking out, the first line, eye contact — so nerves don't take over.

Song choice that fits

Picking music that suits the student's voice and age, so they sound like themselves and not like a copy.

A recording to keep

When they're ready, in-studio students can book a recording session at Studio 105 and leave with a real track.

Common questions

Before you book

How old does my child need to be for voice lessons?

It depends on the child more than the birthday — attention span and genuine interest matter most. Call Vicki at (904) 438-4105 and she'll tell you honestly whether now is the right time.

Do kids need any experience before the first lesson?

No. The first lesson is built to work for a complete beginner. The assessment is how Vicki figures out where to start.

Where are kids' lessons held?

In person at Studio 105 Recording, 8570 Rampart Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32244, or online over Zoom for families who can't make the drive.

Can siblings or friends take a lesson together?

Yes — small-group lessons are available in the studio on request. Online lessons are one-on-one.

Can lessons help my teen prepare for an audition?

Absolutely. Song selection, preparing the cut, and rehearsing the audition itself are all part of Vicki's audition prep coaching.

Do voice lessons make a good gift for a kid who loves to sing?

They do. Gift certificates cover a full 60-minute lesson, in the studio or online, and can be ordered on the gift certificate page.
